Since Bandit's surgery, we've been pretty worried that he would become head shy. I have to say, we were lucky! Does anyone else have an animal that likes to have the surgery site handled and rubbed?|
Bandit loves to have that side of his face rubbed and touched, and leans into the caresses more than ever before. We've been highly considering getting he and Kittsy a set of Doggles (thanks minimac), so we wanted to make sure that he'd be able to wear them without upsetting him. As it looks now, we'll have no problems!
He's really adapted well since the surgery and I am so pleased with his progress. He's stopped running into things as much, and is getting better with his depth perception. The wound itself has healed quite nicely, and it looks really clean. Yet another reason to love his vet!
They had to tranquilize him to get his stitches out though. We took him in on a Tuesday and he just wasn't being cooperative at all. The vet laughed and said normally it was a lot easier, since he had a nose to grab onto, but in Bandit's case, tranquilization would help keep his stress level down. So we had to take him back that Thursday to have everything done. While he was under, they micro-chipped him and gave him his distemper shots. All and all, a really productive visit
